'Tis the season for joy, warmth, and, of course, delightful cookies! If you're on the hunt for the perfect holiday treat, look no further. I'm excited to share my all-time favorite sugar cookie recipe that has been a hit in my kitchen for years. Get ready to embark on a delicious journey of baking and spreading holiday cheer!

Ingredients:

3 cups all purpose flour

1/2 tsp. baking powder

1/2 tsp. salt

1 cup butter (soft)

1 1/2 cups sugar

2 large eggs

1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions:

1. In a large bowl combine the flour, salt, and baking powder.

2. In a mixing bowl at low speed start creaming to the the butter and sugar until well combined. Increase the speed to medium and beat for 5 min, or until the colour is light and the mix is fluffy.

3. Reduce speed and add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla. Scrape down the bowl with a rubber spatula. Add dry ingredients and mix until blend.

4. Shape dough into disks. Wrap with plastic and chill overnight or for at least 2 hours.

5. Pre heat oven to 350F.

6. On a floured surface roll out dough to 1/4-inch thick. Move the dough around and check underneath frequently to make sure it is not sticking. If dough has warmed during rolling, place cold cookie sheet on top for 10 minutes to chill. Cut into desired shape, place at least 1-inch apart on greased baking sheet, parchment, or silicone baking mat, and bake for 7 to 9 minutes or until cookies are just beginning to turn brown around the edges, rotating cookie sheet halfway through baking time.

7. Decorating (Optional): Once the cookies have cooled, unleash your creativity! Decorate with royal icing, colored sugars, or sprinkles to add that extra holiday flair.

These holiday sugar cookies are more than a treat; they're a tradition in the making. Whether you're baking solo, with loved ones, or creating a fun family activity, these cookies are sure to bring smiles and warmth to your festive gatherings. Happy baking, and may your holidays be as sweet as these delightful cookies!
